Sit, Please- Post #90

O.O Ten to go!!!! Yay! Okay, so today was our church's very first attempt at a comtemporary service. Right of the bat, that seems pretty iffy. First try and contemporary in a church is just a setup for disaster, so I'm pretty amazed at how well it went. Not to mention, they played that "He came form heaven to Earth" song, which is only my favorite Church song every. I learned it at camp when I was, what ten? Yeah. Yay. My part in the service was to be the priest. Sort of. i couldn't do all of it, because I'm not a priest (duh), but I did the parts the priest does but you don't have to be a preist to do. If that makes sense. So, yeah, I said some stuff, led a prayer, wahoo, it was pretty fun. I mean, I got to sit in CJ's chair. It has not only a back, but a cusion! You really learn to appreciate these things when you're an acolyte sitting on a bench. So, this is what I had to say in one part of the service. Me: Please stand for the peace. (people stand) Me: The peace of the Lord be always with you. People: And also with you. Then everyone goes around shaking hands and stuff. I knew how this meant, I mean we do it every service. However, since the music and things were all a little different, when I went to the center of the alter to say my part, they were already standing. Me: Please stand...oh, wait, you're already standing. I have seriously got to learn to keep my thoughts in my head. Oh well, everyone laughed and we did eventually get to the peace, so it was all good. And there were really yummy nut-filled brownies in the hall, so I was pretty content. -Iona

Get Your Swim/Study On- Post #89

Eleven away from 100! Wow! I think for post 100 I will make a T-shirt and wear it to school, with the iron-on paper I got for Christmas. Wahoo. Okay, so today, instead of practice, we had a kids vs. parents and coaches meet. It was great! Although I must admit, all the bizarre bathingsuits these parents came up with... So, my dad swam, and it was pretty awesome. For one thing, he was one of the faster parents, not to mention one of the better divers (even if he did false start once! :D). He also had the sense not to compete in the butterfly event! I beat him in 25 free and 25 back (hello! they're my strokes!), he creamed Calum in freestyle and Calum turned around and beat him in breaststroke. I guess my inability to do that stoke comes from the Scottish side of the family, then. ;) I took the SATs again today. Test taking from 7 am-1 am is not exactly my idea of fun, but Bridget let me share her Pringles. You have to love Pringles. I'm supposedly not supposed to talk about the questions or whatnot until the scores come out so I won't, but I'm proud because Algebra helped a ton... ...and frustrated because functions make no sense. So that was cool. I know Tina, Tam, Nick P, and Shawn took the SATs at Crosby (I don't remember who else), so it was just Bridget, Chris, Dan, and me at Taft that I knew this year. it was freezing cold in the gym, and every twenty minutes or so there was this weird sound from the roof, like it was being bombarded by a million tiny hailstones. Weird. I'm tired and I really want Burger King, for some reason. Fries and a chocolate milkshake sound really good right about now...well, they always sound good. I'm going to be lazy today!!!! This is a thrilling concept. I have no tests in the near future (okay, the science midterm-like thing is in two weeks but whatever), so I am going to mindlessly surf the web, watch stupid cartoons until my brain bursts, go to the movies and laugh until I cry, and eat very unhealthy amounts of sugary foods. How very thrilling. -Iona

For Real This Time -Post #88

It's doom and destruction and failure come twice While everyone's flying I'm paying the price I've been here before, but I managed to leave Now it's all back again, I can do naught but grieve For the days and the times and the memories past And the minutes and hours that went by so fast The frustration is brutal, the sadness is worse I'm caught up in the movement, ensnared by the curse The warnings were lost, I remember them now I wish I had listened, I didn't know how Things could ever be worse than they were Well this goes to show you; I'm never that sure The thing that hurts most is this isn't the end Repeating mistakes, I'll do it again I'm proving it now, by the word, by the phrase This haunting refrain I will sing all my days And yeah, maybe I'm overreacting too But it's no use complaining, it's already through Studying for science tests is horrible, let me tell you... -Iona

Whoa, that was like a... Jedi moment.-Post #87 1/2

Yup, another "Lost" quote, from Hurley again. Yay! Sooo, the swim meet was a ton of fun. I dropped 0.3 seconds on my 50 free. This is the third time I've dropped on it within the 33-33.99 range! And Emily is still at 31...man I'm slow. I dropped 3 seconds on my 100 free , though, which made me happy. I'm down to around a 1:14. Again, Emily is still 1:12...not cool. I was 0.2 seconds off my best time on the 100 back...not bad, but I would have liked to improve it. I felt really tired doing it, so I was annoyed to still be up. usually when you ache during a race (not counting the 200) it means you're really going well. Emily swam it for the first time and got a 1:26. Ha! I've got a 1:23. :D I really should be studying right now. I mean, I have a Spanish test tomorrow, a math test sometime soon, and another giant science test on Tuesday. However, if I see another flashcard anywhere, anytime soon, I swear I will tear it into little tiny shreds. Hey, didn't I write a post about something like that? I long time ago? Let me go check. Hmm, I didn't find anything. Still, I could have sworn... Gah, I've got to go, so this will stay a half post. bye! -Iona

Dude. Wow. - Post #87

'Lost' quote. yay! but, again, I'm still watching season one on dvd. What I'll probably do is read season 2, then watch the first few episodes of season 3 that we taped, then be cuaght up, and catch season 2 when it comes on dvd. But whatever. My name is an anagram for cookie brain. This disturbes me. Did I mention that, during the trial, the following sequence of events occured? 1. I banged my right heel against the bottom of Mrs. Dico's desk while on a "calm" rant. 2. I jumped around on one foot with myeyes closed going 'ow'. 3. I put my foot down...in the garbage pail. I seriously need to control my random hyper sprees, because they get me absolutely nowhere useful. We lost, by the way. Grr. Which means that I am 0 for 2, and am never going to be a lawyer for fear of continuing my losing streak. But, whatever. We'll get them next trial. I hope. It was awesome, though. I have to give Shawn props, he's almost as good as Catherine, who beat me in my first trial, last year. Okay, she creamed me, and in the debates we did too. But hey, I'm managing. I've discovered that I have a thing for making lists. I got a packet of To Do list paper for Christmas and have used so much of it. List making is incredibly useful...and also mildly amusing. Sorry is this post is random, etc. It's 10:48 pm, and I'm trying to finish this before I have to go to bed, because we have a swim meet tomorrow. It should be fun. I'm swimming 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 backstroke. We're so close to championships! I can't believe it... It is very creepy when you are sitting at a lab table, working on your assignment, when your friend sitting next to you looks over your shoulder. You turn around and your science teacher is standing right there...creepy. I really want a Friendly's Fribble...I think I've said that before, but I still have gotten one. If I ever get suddenly and randomly rich...the first thing I'll buy is a chocolate milkshake. Random? Not really, just ask my dad! To Alison: Yay, I'm good, midterms sound frightening, I will when I next see her, I haven't seen it, and I don't think so. I am going to go ahead and count this as another post, just because. I'll fit in a good, normal post when...science goes away, I guess. Love and luck, Iona

Kid reads like a book. -Post #86

That's a quote from my new favorite fanfiction. I love reading fanfiction, call me crazy or not... I blame science for the fact that I haven't written in two weeks. We get a test every two weeks, and they are evil! They are not only long and dull (rocks are boring!), but they quiz you on all the little details. They take days to study for, which is annoying. Let's see, tomorrow I have a cooking test. Friday I have a gym test and a Spanish test. Monday through Wednesday is the giant math test-sort-of-fake-midterm-but-not-really. Tuesday is the science test. However, Tuesday is also when my favorite fanfiction gets updated, so yay! I can't wait...it's great. Really. So, since I've been gone, I've directed and shot a redone version of the myth Demeter, and came up with an awesome way to shoot the scenes where Zeus (on Earth) and Hades (in the underworld) are talking to each other. The actors (Rachel, Stephanie, Gabi, and Calum) rocked, and I threw in some music etc. too. So, again, yay. We were at Burger King a while ago, getting food because we'd messed up the time for Cal's indoor soccer game and had to wait an hour, and I was getting my soda. they give you the cup, then you get to fill it up from the soda machine thing. I put my cup underneath, pressed the button for Sprite, and waited for it to fill up. However, when I pressed the button to make it stop, nothing happened. So there I was looking around and understanding the reason the put gutters under there until some lady came over and whacked it. It stopped. I was looking through the music on my iPod and laughing the other day. I have to most random stuff on there...including parts of the Spiderman 2, Tarzan, and PotC soundtracks. I have rock (wahoo), pop (hooray for hyper music!), jazz (for some reason), alterative (which is what?), soundtrack (no kidding), etc. Meaning that when put on shuffle, my iPod will be very random. As for country, I only like two country songs in existence. One Rachel knows, that I like due to a music video on putfile.com, and the other because of a different music video on putfile.com. Because people with too much time on their hands can get really good at things like making music videos. We had a trial in English today! We won't know the verdict until tomorrow, but I think we won. We were the defense, and we pleaded not guilty because our client was insane. We were winning until Greg messed up. We were winning again until Mrs. Dico helped the prosecution. We were losing until Travis accidentally made a point for us...and so I think we might have won. That would be cool. I lost my last (first ever) trial. That was last year, and hello, I was up again Catherine, Miss Debate Queen of etc. etc. I have to go to swim practice, but I swear I'll write more often now! How many times have I said that before now? -Iona

Oh No....-Post # 85 1/2

Yeah, weird first post of 2006? Maybe. But Bill, I am having some seriosu puppet related issues, and the irony of that comment's timing just killed me. I met your brother today. Aaaaaaaaargh, i'm going crazy. Will elaborate later. Must brainstorm. -Iona O.O
